Collaboration/association to open-up new vistas for FDDI

Mr. M Rafeeque Ahmed, Chairman FDDI said, "The purpose of visit to the leading institutes and clusters was essential for assessment of international trend, technology and systems through meetings with Designers, Consultants, manufacturers and technocrats of international repute so that the same can be infused in the branches of FDDI."

The delegation visited Moda Pelle Academy which is the stylist school for leather garments, bags and shoes, attended by students worldwide and is very well known around the world in the field of the leather business.

The delegation had meeting with the Director of Moda Pelle Academy where the possibility of 'Students and Faculty Exchange Programme' was discussed in length.

On being asked about the development in collaborating/tie-ups with the leading institutions of the world, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI said, "It's our continuous efforts to maintain FDDI at par with International standards; hence we collaborate with leading international institutions and organizations of the area for mutual cooperation and growth."

"We are in advance stage of discussion with IED, ARS Arpel Group & Modapelle Academy and sharing of our experiences will be highly meaningful, mutually beneficial and also paves way for greater cooperation meeting mutual needs. Several joint activities could be undertaken to result in synergy of investments and use of resources," added Mr. Lakhara.

The prospect will bring revolutionary change not only to the Indian leather sector but in the international leather sector.

Joint organization of national or international seminars, conferences and symposia's; cooperation and exchange of research material, publications and journals for advancement of knowledge capital will also be done.

• Innovation of product, researches on raw materials;
• Development of technological productive process;
• Professional training of human resources;
• Diffusion and practice of quality concepts in the shoe and leather field;
• Control on the conformity to the laws and regulations issued;
• Students and Faculty Exchange Programme, etc.

Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary FDDI, remarked "The collaboration/association will open-up new vistas for cooperation between the institutions which will be quite broad, making it possible for the institutions to work together in different areas for promotion of quality education, research & development."

Next month, a team from ARS Arpel Group & Modapelle Academy is expected to visit the FDDI to assess the potential and scope of improvement.

The strategic collaborations provide an excellent fit of strategy for developing innovative ideas & excellence in the area of collaborative programmes that are internationally and nationally recognized and will yield attainment of higher competitiveness in terms of Fashion, Design, Quality and Cost effectiveness leading to global brand creation/positioning for Indian products.
