click2try, a community site that makes it easy to try and use Open Source software, announced it has posted osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 into its Open Source software catalog site.

More than 14,000 online shopping sites use the popular osCommerce Online Merchant software to build their online storefronts and shopping carts. Online shoppers will interact with the osCommerce software whether purchasing apparel, games, jewelry, music, travel or travel accessories, or virtually any other item that can be sold over the Internet. The software is written mainly in PHP and runs on the MySQL database platform.

osCommerce Online Merchant provides all of the tools necessary to build online catalogs and storefronts. The software offers a simple administrative interface that lets users easily add products, product descriptions, pricing, shipping, and payment options, among other features. osCommerce offers modules that integrate PayPal, 2Checkout, Authorize.net, ChronoPay, iPayment, and many other payment gateways.

Third-party developers continue to build add-ons to osCommerce, including shipping add-ons to accommodate a number of national postal services, FedEx, UPS, and other shippers. Add-ons also provide a variety of internationalization options, making osCommerce a powerful international online merchant solution.
