FDDI & ARSutoria partnership bring revolutionary change to leather sector

Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), on August 5, 2009 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ARSutoria Milan, Italy for broad range of collaboration to promote quality education, research & development.

Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director and Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary from FDDI were present whereas Mr. Matteo Pasca, Managing Director, from ARSutoria was present.

ARSutoria, is the most prestigious school for the bags and footwear model design located in Milan - Italy, the world capital of clothing and leather fashion. It's renowned for the method of teaching with extensive knowledge of new CAD-CAM technology.

Strategic Alliance:
• Mutually beneficial educational event, conferences, design trends;
• Exchange of academic staff & faculty;
• Exchange of PG & UG students;
• Joint organization of national or international conferences, seminars and symposia;
• Cooperation and exchange of research material, publications, and academic information etc.

The MoU is based on the strength of existing competencies of the two organizations as a cross-benefit to both institutes exists in the area of growth and development in international understanding and global knowledge for faculty and students.

Mr. Pasca met Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI and Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI & had a long discussion.

On being asked about the development in collaborating/tie-up with ARSutoria, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI said, “FDDI is in expansion mode in all spheres of design & technology & in its continuous efforts to maintain at par with International standards we are collaborating with ARSutoria for mutual cooperation and growth.”

He further said that, “Through collaborative partnerships, faculty and students will contribute to advancing educational opportunities and global understanding.”

Being optimistic with the development in this regard, Mr. Pasca said “The prospect will bring revolutionary change to the International leather sector in the area of Design.”

Mr. Pasca also visited the pilot plant, library, classrooms, computer center etc. and was highly impressed with the vision of FDDI's management, the facility, the infrastructure & services provided by FDDI to the industry.

In this regard, a high level delegation under the Chairmanship of Joint Secretary (JS), Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, Mr. Gopal Krishna, IAS, Mr. Rafeeque Ahmed, MD, Farida Group & Chairman, FDDI, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI & Mr. Deepak Kumar, IRS, Executive Director, FDDI, Fursatganj had visited ARSutoria and had discussion with the Director of the institute in the month of June 2009.

According to Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI “The collaborating/tie-up with ARSutoria is a positive indication for FDDI as well as the industry as it will very soon yield favourable result in the area of Design.”
