CommerceHub to help build drop-ship supplier network for Sears

CommerceHub announced that CommerceHub has been selected by Sears Canada to provide supplier integration to build its drop-ship supplier network.
CommerceHub will provide a direct connection to Sears Canada's existing order management systems for processing purchase orders, order acknowledgements, inventory and fulfillment data with drop-ship suppliers.
"We are building a drop-ship network as part of our online strategy to increase product selection and inventory efficiency," said Simon Rodrigue, Sears Canada AVP of eCommerce. "We selected the CommerceHub platform to reliably integrate our existing systems with new and current suppliers."
The CommerceHub integration provides Sears Canada the ability to rapidly bring on new suppliers and expand product selection with all its suppliers without incurring inventory and handling costs. With over 5,000 drop-ship suppliers, manufacturers and carriers connected to the Supply-on-Demand Platform, CommerceHub processed over 18.5 million drop-ship orders in 2008.
"Our flexible and reliable integration technology is core to building effective online distribution networks," said Steve Hamlin, CommerceHub CEO. "We welcome the opportunity to assist Sears Canada in expanding its product offerings through an integrated drop-ship network."
For multi-channel retailers, drop-ship networks offer the opportunity to maintain and increase product SKUs while reducing the levels of inventory held. The Sears Canada drop-ship supplier network enables orders to be sent directly to suppliers, manufacturers and distributors who then fulfill and ship the merchandise directly to customers.
The CommerceHub One Connection integration standardizes communications with all suppliers, regardless of legacy technology format, providing complete order visibility and proactive monitoring of the fulfillment process. The Supply-on-Demand platform enables purchase orders to be sent to each supplier with all the information required to create customized Sears Canada branded packing slips for direct-ship customer orders.
Sears Canada operates approximately 120 stores and supplies about 160 independently owned stores, selling home fashions, appliances, and apparel, home electronics, and garden goods, Sears Canada runs about 50 furniture and appliances stores, 12 outlet stores, and the largest catalog business in Canada.
