Vertica announced that MicroStrategy's latest business intelligence software -- MicroStrategy 9 -- is now certified to work with the Vertica Analytic Database 3.5. FlexStore and other optimizations in Vertica 3.5 improve query performance and result in faster report execution in MicroStrategy 9 when compared to previous versions of the Vertica Analytic Database. The announcement was made in conjunction with MicroStrategy's annual user conference in Las Vegas.

Vertica offers customers an analytics platform for running queries and extracting insight from terabytes of business data at blazingly fast speeds. The Vertica Analytic Database has a columnar, MPP architecture and pioneering data compression to reduce storage requirements by as much as 90 percent, dramatically cutting hardware overhead and energy consumption so that MicroStrategy 9 users can analyze larger amounts of data, faster and at a fraction of the cost.

Vertica and Guess?, Inc. will present a case study at MicroStrategy World 2010 to showcase how the apparel manufacturer is implementing Vertica and MicroStrategy to analyze huge volumes of point-of-sale (POS), manufacturing, inventory, customer and store performance data in its global data centers.

"MicroStrategy's BI software powered by Vertica enables companies like Guess? to make fast, real-time business decisions," said MicroStrategy's COO Sanju Bansal. "Vertica is a valued technology partner and we appreciate Vertica continuing its MicroStrategy certification support with our latest software version."

"The combination of Vertica and MicroStrategy makes customers' applications run dramatically faster," said Ralph Breslauer, Vertica's CEO. "In customer tests, running the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform on the Vertica Analytic Database enabled the customer to significantly increase the number of concurrent BI users running queries over their traditional RDBMS."
