Gerber unveils DCS2600 with Pivex

Gerber Technology, a business unit of Gerber Scientific, Inc. and the world leader in automated CAD/CAM and PLM solutions for the technical textiles and flexible materials industry, unveils the DCS2600 with Pivex, at SPESA EXPO 2010. The newest addition to its solutions for automated material processing, the DCS2600 with Pivex is a high-speed, single or low-ply cutting system that utilizes Gerber's Pivex cutting technology. The system is designed to cut a wide selection of complex materials with high precision and speed.
The DCS2600 with Pivex combines a large selection of static table dimensions with oscillating knife technology. The result is a single tool-head, offering enhanced productivity, greater precision and maximum flexibility.
“The introduction of the DCS2600 with Pivex allows us the opportunity to enter previously untapped markets. The versatility of this machine provides our customers with an automated cutting solution that will transform their manufacturing process,” states Trip Todd, Gerber Technology's Senior Product Manager, Single-Ply Cutters. “What makes this product unique is that we are able to take our advanced Pivex technology, which has been very successful within the leather industry, and find new applications that utilize this innovative cutting technology,” adds Todd.
“As a manufacturer in a competitive market it is important to achieve the highest quality possible, while keeping costs low,” states David Maxwell, Production Manager at REM, Europe's leading designer and manufacturer of hair and beauty equipment and owners of a DCS2600. “Working with Gerber Technology to introduce the DCS2600 with Pivex, we were able to cut both leather cloth for hairdressing styling chairs and laminates for reception desks and styling units. With the DCS2600, we have managed to reduce waste, increase quality and increase efficiency.”
The DCS2600 easily integrates into any cutting room environment within the Composites and Technical Textile industries. The technology has been tested and approved to cut an array of materials including Carbon Fiber, Kevlar, Plastic, Wood Veneer, Ballistic Nylon and Nomex Mesh.
The DCS2600 with Pivex is also available with Ingress Protection, which shields vital electronic components from foreign elements including conductive carbon particles, dust and moisture – an essential advancement for equipment longevity and quality assurance.
