Visual 2000 International Inc. is partnering with noted footwear design and development consultants Skerpa Design to create a next-generation product lifecycle management (PLM) solution for the footwear industry.

The new footwear-specific PLM is based on Visual 2000's VisualPLM.net, a comprehensive PLM solution proven in the fashion and softgoods industries. To be released this month, the new footwear edition promises to provide footwear retailers, brands, and manufacturers with a robust, best-fit solution for managing their merchandising, design, product development, pre-production, and sourcing processes.

“We are greatly benefitting from the footwear process guidance and insight that Skerpa Design brings to this important business solution,” stated Charles Benoualid vice president of research and development.

“While our fashion product has always been configurable to the needs of footwear clients, we saw an opportunity for these companies to achieve faster speed to benefit through a packaged solution tailored specifically for this market. With their deep and diverse experience from first sketches to final samples, Skerpa Design was the perfect resource to assist us in the development of this exciting product. As the first truly dedicated PLM solution for footwear, this new industry-tailored edition goes beyond standard PLM functionality to deliver unequaled benefits though out-of-the-box footwear best practices.”

Built around a team of international and multidisciplinary specialists, Skerpa Design specializes in design and development of footwear for sporting and outdoor markets. The company's clients include Aldo, CCM Sports, Kamik, Salomon, and TSL Outdoor.

“We enjoy the opportunity to work with Visual 2000 to align their PLM solution to the specific requirements of the footwear business”, noted Skerpa Design Founder and President Daniel Thibault. “With PLM quickly becoming a requirement in this competitive and fast-paced industry, we applaud Visual 2000 for their focus on footwear and their initiative to custom-fit PLM to this important industry.”

Visual PLM.net is a configurable, packaged software solution for managing all product images, components, time and action calendars, and other critical business information. Visual PLM.net improves team and partner collaboration, increases process visibility, reduces product costs, and streamlines the entire concept-to-delivery business process.

Based in Montreal, Quebec, Skerpa Design Inc. was formed in 2004. Founder Daniel Thibault has more than 15 years experience in industrial design since graduating from the School of Industrial Design at the University of Montreal. Skerpa Design is specialized in innovative products research and development in preparation for their merchandising and sale in profitable markets. Its specialty resides in the design and development for sporting and outdoor products, more specifically for the footwear industry.
