Lectra, the world leader in integrated technology solutions for industries that use soft materials -- textiles, leather, industrial fabrics and composites -- is pleased to announce its continued support for educational programs that promote technology in the apparel industry through its participation in the 2010 ITAA Annual Conference October 27 - 30 in Montreal, Canada. The conference gathers hundreds of scholars, educators, and students in the textile, apparel, and merchandising disciplines in higher education.

Lectra has a strong commitment to the education community in North America with more than 100 leading universities implementing Lectra software solutions dedicated to the fashion, apparel industry. One of those educational partners is Cégep Marie-Victorin, the premier fashion school in Canada. Together, Lectra and Cégep Marie-Victorin have been selected this year by the ITAA community to host a workshop entitled Digital Fashion Supply Chain and Integration of Technology Solutions for Preparing Next Generation Fashion Professionals.

This premier event will take place at the state-of-the-art Cégep Marie-Victorin facility near the conference in Montreal. The program is designed to illustrate how technology can be adopted in the educational environment. The hands-on workshop will explore traditional apparel development processes and allow attendees to interact with technology solutions that can streamline the apparel creation process. Attendees will also hear a real-life industry adaptation of these solutions from Cégep Marie-Victorin.

"Lectra provides Cégep Marie-Victorin with the tools we need to keep up with the growth we are experiencing," said Francine Nadeau, Director of Public Affairs of Fashion School Cégep Marie-Victorin. With their innovative solutions and support, we are training future fashion designers with Modaris and Diamino, two extremely innovative solutions. Lectra takes a progressive vision working with our educational institution, and we are excited to team up with Lectra for this innovative workshop."

Lectra has a long standing partnership with ITAA and their involvement extends throughout the conference. At the ITAA Resource Exhibit, Lectra will display an array of its software solutions dedicated to the fashion industry from Kaledo -- Lectra's professional fashion and textile design platform -- to its benchmark pattern-making and high performance virtual 3D prototyping solutions -- Modaris, and Modaris 3D Fit. In addition, Lectra sponsors several awards that honor top faculty and graduate students. Winners will be announced during the conference's Live Gallery fashion show.

"Lectra is pleased to participate in ITAA again this year as we are very committed to fashion education community. We are proud that Lectra technology is the standard for both fashion designers and students looking to fulfill the changing skills requirements within the industry," according to Roy Shurling, President of Lectra North America. "This year we are especially excited to partner with our customer, Cégep Marie-Victorin, to offer hands-on use of our technology."
