Two scan sites at Wal-Mart Stores in Mexico City were launched in October for the SizeMexico sizing survey by Textile/Clothing Technology Corp - [TC]²'s teams. Each survey participant is completing an electronic questionnaire which addresses health issues and lifestyle demographics.
Height and weight is recorded manually, and the 3D scan data is captured using the NX-16 3D body scanning system. Two Mexico City locations will gather data until mid-December, and then move on to Monterrey in January 2011. Four regions in Mexico will be visited during the survey, with scan sites in fourteen cities.
Cámara Nacional de la Industria de la Industria del Vestido (CNIV), the Mexican Apparel Industry Association, along with [TC]² has undertaken this survey with the support of the Economic Ministry of Mexico.
No similar study has been conducted of the Mexican population. The information that will be derived from the survey will enable brands and manufacturers to design and produce apparel that will fit a broader segment of consumers.
