Textile will switch from OEM to ODM - TTRI

Technological sportswear has emerged as one of the major industries in the world, today. Taiwan has grown to become a hub in research and innovation, especially in this field.

Sources at the Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI) told Fibre2fashion, that they were planning to improve national wide textile designers and innovation abilities which can add textile relative industry more value. Recently, TTRI has organized a domestic new designer training courses program to achieve this target.

It is also learned that Taiwan wanted to persistently contribute in sportswear supply chain and that the country will switch it textile from OEM to ODM.

TTRI recently has developed a new material called phase change material (PCM), which will be applied to sportswear. PCM fabric can keep athlete cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

When asked about the future of global technological sportswear industry, insider said, “The whole world will welcome green products. For example: coating past will switch from subvert base to water base products and its process will reduce energy consumption. Form coating and biodegradable non-woven fabric will be popular in the future. However, for designing sportswear the most important features are elastic ability, easy care, thermal regulation and breathable ability.”
