IWTO invites retailers to engage with wool supply chain

The International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) is organising an event to promote greater transparency along the wool supply chain and will take place May 19-20 during the 84th IWTO Congress in China.
“This event is in response to fashion and textile retailers striving to respond to ever-increasing consumer demands for information about the origins of their products,” IWTO said.
In partnership with The Woolmark Company and China Wool Textile Association, IWTO will present the Wool Retail Forum, a platform for retail brands and the wool industry.
Under the theme "Provenance and Performance", the Wool Retail Forum will examine wool's ingredient role in modern retail, quality assurance through origin and wool’s performance in outdoor and sportswear.
By bringing together representatives from each stage of the wool pipeline, IWTO said, it aims to foster better understanding of wool's route from farm to retail and open opportunities for closer collaborations.
"The Wool Retail Forum is an opportunity for retailers, who are looking for ways to strengthen transparency and authenticity and exchange ideas with suppliers," says Elisabeth Delden, IWTO secretary general.
"It has been the nature of our industry that, generally speaking, the different actors within the supply chain don't get the opportunity to talk to each other,” she noted.
“The Wool Retail Forum recognises that as an industry we must work more closely together in order to meet consumer expectations about origins, accountability, and value," she added. (AR)
