With a view to cater to the expanding market for healthy and hygienic woollen and worsted textiles, Jiangsu Lugang Science and Technology has tied up with Amicor.

Jiangsu Lugang has now become the certified supplier of woollen and worsted yarns blended with Amicor fibres. Both single and double yarn counts ranging from 28 Nm to 56 Nm are available in blends with wool and acrylic for different end-application segments. Customised yarn counts as per customer requirements are also available upon customer request.

Amicor has been a leader in anti-microbial textiles since late 1990’s. Products developed with Amicor fibres retain their anti-bacterial and anti-fungal characteristics even up to 100 washing cycles. Amicor fibres keep garments fresh and odour free throughout the day and protect skin from infections.

As a next step to tie-up, Jiangsu Lugang will present a whole new range of yarn collection developed with Amicor, for wool / acrylic blended end-applications, primarily targeting the premium brands and innovators in the field of thermal innerwear, socks and winter wear such as woollen sweaters and apparel for babies, children and adults, according to a release by the two companies.

Qian Zhongwei, vice president of Jiangsu Lugang, said, “There has been an increasing demand for healthy and fresh textiles not only in the developed US and EU markets, but even in China, Japan, Korea and other developing Asian markets. There is a growing awareness among consumers for a healthy living in everyday life; and we think it is the appropriate time to focus and cater to this consumer sentiment. We are sure that our partnership with Amicor shall provide new dimension to the woollen and worsted markets in the coming years.”

Amicor fibres are independently endorsed and compliant with European legislation and have been granted “Seal of approval” from the British Allergy Foundation. These are compliant under REACH SVHC norms and are also Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 certified.

Explaining the fibre technology, Biswajit Chaudhuri, chief marketing officer, Thai Acrylic Fibre, said, “Amicor fibre is developed using the intelligent late injection technology which targets the core of the fibre. Unlike other anti-microbial surface finishes, it is not in direct contact with the skin. So Amicor is gentle, safe, soft and, therefore, very suitable for use in baby products.”

The company has been successfully catering to the European Union market for over a decade now. The plan is to now focus on developing Asian markets where there has been a significant increase in demand for healthcare products and concepts over the last few years. “We are confident of successfully developing this market with Lugang,” Chaudhuri added.
