Polyacryl Iran Corporation (PIC) was founded in August 1974. Manufacturing operation started in 1978 and products were successfully distributed in local as well as international markets.

PIC ranks as the largest and technologically most advanced man-made fiber manufacturer in Iran.

Presently, PIC plants comprise five production units with an aggregate annual capacity of 129500 metric tons, including 32,000 tons of polyester staple fiber, 21,500 tons of polyester filament yarn, 23,500 tons of acrylic staple fiber, 16,500 tons of acrylic tops, and 1500 tons of polyester tops.

Polyester fibers is produced either as tow continuous filament yarn. Tow eventually converted into staple or tops. The staple fiber is produced in lengths suitable for cotton and wool processing systems or fiberfill types.

The yarns are subsequently subjected to different, textile processes: such as: texturizing weaving, knitting, etc. Polyester fibers, used purely or blended with other natural, artificial or synthetic fibers, attaches to the finished articles a springy, firm excellent heat-set, wear-resistant, staple and wrinkle resistant quality.

Polyester tops is produced in two forms: anti pill and regular, both with different cut lengths suitable for blending with wool or other fibers, worsted, semi worsted, or for other uses. The continuous filament yarn is produced in a wide range of denier and in a number of filaments. In the case of indrawn yarn or POY (Partially-Oriented Yarn), extreme care is taken to prevent yarn from undergoing elongation or drawing. The POY with a draw ratio of 1.7 is suitable for feeding the draw texturizing machines and is therefore known also as DTFY (Draw Texturizing Feed Yarn).

In flat-drawn yarn or FOY (Fully-Oriented Yarn), the yarn is deliberately drawn and heated to product flat yarn.

The filaments of both POY and FOY are wound up on tubes.

PIC acrylic fiber is a man-made fiber obtained by dry spinning of acrylic co-polymer solution composed of more than 93% acrylonitrile. PIC acrylic fibers is produced as staple and tops, raw white or dyed.

Acrylic staple and tops are both produced in a wide range of deniers and cut lengths suitable for various systems.

The main properties of acrylic fibers include warmth, softness, lightness and resilient-resistance to chemicals and weathering.

All these properties, combined ease of processing on various systems, provides manufacturing of a wide range of practical, comfortable and high quality articles ranging from knitted outerwear to apparel fabrics, from carpets to blankets and upholstery, and from hosiery and knitting yarn to pile fabrics.
