Veramtex

Veramtex Veramtex is a third-party finisher specialized in green chemistry. It offers its customers two types of treatments, one to make fabrics easy-to-iron or non-iron and the other one for flame retardants fabrics. Both are based on ammonia, which Veramtex uses since more than 30 years. Especially important is the fact that we recycle more than 99% of the product, thanks to our distillation plant. It allows us as well to source ammonia water, instead of pure ammonia, thereby dramatically reducing risk associated with ammonia transportation. read more

Message from Top Management
Mr. Marc Vanhoomissen

Humanity is facing a huge challenge: the global population is increasing at a steady pace while the earth does not change size. We are therefore approaching or even exceeding the limits of our planet's resources.

We are proud to help at our limited scale to limit the use of energy and other resources by providing our customers with extended lifetime and reduced needs for maintenance (especially ironing).

Green initiatives Veramtex is the first company in our country to have gained STeP certification in 2015. It followed the Oeko-tex 1000 certification already achieved in 2000. This long story means we are always looking for improvements of our technology. After installing distillation unit in the 80's, we gradually improved it to obtain the above mentioned recovery rate. Since then, we have been investing in better units for heat production, heat recovery on our stenter frames, lower electricity consumption,...
An important part of our work is also dedicated to risk management and reduction: improvements in that area range from newer, safer tanks to sourcing ammonia water instead of pure ammonia and include many smaller systems like the ones dedicated to prevent accidental ammonia release in the air.
Certification As a small company with 10+ people, our resources are limited, so we chose to concentrate on the certification making the more sense for us. It had to have a sound scientific and technical basis, be internationally known, relevant in the textile industry. We therefore chose the STeP (Sustainable Textile Production) certification from the Oeko-tex organization and achieved it in 2015 with the level 3, the highest possible. That means that the end product treated by Veramtex can get a 'Made in Green' certification accorded by Oeko-tex, provided all other conditions are met.
