TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres are a lower-environmental impact, high-comfort material manufactured by Lenzing.
They are made from natural, raw material wood sourced from responsibly managed forests and produced with 50 per cent less carbon emissions and water consumption than generic lyocell and modal fibres.1
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are soft and smooth to touch. They have high tenacity among cellulosic fibres, support a natural dry feeling through moisture control and enable a subtle sheen in fabrics. In addition to these performance benefits, TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are made using a closed loop production process which recovers 99.8 per cent of solvent.
TENCEL™ Lyocell’s effective moisture absorption
Even at high humidity, Lyocell shows significantly higher moisture absorption compared to polyester and higher sorption compared to cotton at higher humidity levels (e.g. above 60 RH). At 90 per cent RH, Lyocell absorbs around 20 per cent of its weight in moisture, similar to viscose and slightly more than cotton.
In this humidity region, TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres increase their absorption by 21per cent2 which is almost twice the absorbency increase compared to that of cotton. This extra absorption by TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres contributes to increased sleeping comfort.
TENCEL™ Lyocell - Fill is a siliconized Lyocell fibre optimised for fillings in home and apparel. Depending on the technology for preparation of fillings, different types of the filling fibre are recommended.

Whether you are sleeping or choosing something to wear, fabrics made from TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres enable versatility in design and function.
They are perfect for a wide range of product categories including ready-to-wear, activewear, intimate apparel, denim, footwear and home & interiors.

Manufacturers of bedding and apparel benefit from the fibre properties of TENCEL™ Lyocell - Fill in the following ways:
The fibre supports a wide range of applications:
- Comforters/quilts, Pillows, Mattress pads
- Apparel (filled jackets)
- Stuffed Toys
It is certified under OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Class 1.

Filled bedding essentials and filled apparel products made with TENCEL™ Lyocell - Fill are characterised by the following qualities:
The fibre provides excellent moisture management. Its microscopic fibrils are structured to regulate the absorption and release of moisture, supporting the body’s natural thermal regulation and offering breathable comfort. Compared to polyester, synthetics, and even cotton, it retains less surface moisture, reducing the potential for bacterial growth.
It enhances moisture control in jackets when blended with TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres in the filling.
It contributes to sustainability by offering:
- a reduced carbon footprint compared to down and PET
- a lower reliance on fossil fuels compared to PET
- Suitable for carding (60 mm), fibre balls (32 mm) and blow fill (32 mm and 16 mm).
Blending
- Suitable for blending with all synthetics and natural origin filling fibres. TENCEL™ Lyocell - Fill 1.7 dtex/16 mm can also be blended with down and feathers.
General
- Fully traceable in all processing steps due to fibre identification technology.
Final product
- Recommended for filled bedding essentials and filled apparel products.
Processing
- Suitable for thermo bonding, spray bonding or resin bonding.
