The Union Textile Ministry has already prepared the draft ofmuch awaited National Fibre Policy. The policy is aimed at strengthening thefibre economy and makes the Indian Textile and Garment sector competitive inthe long run. The long term projections on consumption and production of fibresand major policy recommendations arrived by different sub-groups for respectivefibres are given in the policy. This includes Cotton, Man-Made Fibres, Jute,Silk, Wool, Other Natural Fibres, Speciality Fibre (Technical Textiles) andSpeciality Cotton.


National Fibre policy is waiting for the final shape.Textile Ministry has put the draft on its website and invited the comments,suggestions, changes from whosoever concerned. The policy will get the finaltouch thereafter. Weare presenting here the Executive summary of the draft National Policy forthe interest of our readers.
