This is reflected in consistent decline in apparel exportsfor the last two years, for which a number of reasons, which were certainly notthe creation of the garment exporters, have inflicted injuries to the interestsof garment exporters.


Itis a known fact that there has been reckless and competitive attempts to drainour limited resources on what is called as social sector, all in the name ofuplifting the lives of the downtrodden (read certain castes, which arepolitically important for vote bank politics), but has any serious attempt beenever made to really know as to where all these massive resources are sinking.NREGA, the flagship programme of UPA in both its editions, has been mired withcorruption with the result that the amount intended and committed fordowntrodden never reaches the genuine target class. The benefit to the actualintended beneficiaries has been a serious doubt. This is just one example; allother social sector programmes have the same genre.


Thissets the that needs to be brought to the attention of Hon'ble Finance Minister,who would be presenting the Budget Proposals for the fiscal 2012-13 on 9 March2012 instead of the last day of month of February as has been the practice allalong, on account of intervening elections in five states. For the trade andcommerce bodies, this is the time to bring home relevant facts to the notice ofthe Government and many of them have done this.
