The global fashion industry has an opportunity to create large-scale environmental and social change for millions if it is moving in the right direction.
Cuttings from the patternmaking, waste material, hangtags to the packing and shipping can be done and made in such a way, that it does not leave any ecological footprint which could be considered as dumped into the grave state, but made as such that it can stay in the loop as well. Buttons, zippers, accessories and the likes should be chosen accordingly.
At the end stage of the textile, repair, take back, upcycle offers to the clients can be an incentive that the garment won't be dumped by the client in its final stage, but is considered as a resource of value, even if it might be worn out, has some holes or colour fading.
It is important to understand, that it is not circular to pick out a single factor here, but that the product and its by-products as a whole need to be thought through in terms of circularity and only if this model is incorporated at all stages, a product can be considered as circular.
