While much of the world is watching what it's wearing, many women would still admit that it is an exhausting task to find the right dress. Well, failing to dress to the nines is not the most vexing vice, but it is definitely not something to be proud of.
How to choose the right clothes? What fabric will accentuate the curves or what will make the entire look gawky? What counts for an effortless chic look? These are some head scratching questions. A transition into winter makes these questions, worth giving a thought. After all, autumn/winter is that season which fashionistas look forward for doling out their creativity! There are fewer women who experiment with style, colours, and fabrics during winters. In fact, right kind of fabrics, colours, and accessories will not only keep the cold at bay, but also make the season stylish.
If there is a major wardrobe revamping that needs to be done, follow the simple rules and give a stylish lift to winters. As the wait for 2013-14 winters begin, so does the excitement to explore the newer trends in the world of fashion. The basic trends will remain same, but, there will be different prints, fabrics, colours, and designs which will give a way to fresh stuff.
One of the winter wardrobe must-haves is skinny jeans in darker shades like dark blue and black. An alternate to skinny jeans is colourful printed leggings. Even though, black and blue are the obvious colours to pick out in jeans, grey is a colour that should be looked out for in 2013-14 trends. The colour gives normal skinny jeans a different look. In leggings, the trend from previous year continues, as coloured and printed leggings will remain in vogue even in the coming winters. Skinny jeans in leather and denim will be the in thing this winter.
Even as the season's fashion will dodge the ill-fitted and over-sized clothes, the craze for boy-friend jeans is here to stay, as it is comfortable and casual. Nevertheless, any type of jeans and leggings can be made apt for a particular occasion, by experimenting with the layers. A shapely corduroy coat paired with a tube-top beneath for a formal look, or a leather jacket, and platform boots to run errands or a full-sleeved t-shirt with a cardigan must be checked out, as these will be a rage in 2013-14.
In fact, full-sleeved t-shirts in knitted fabric and leather jackets in colours like white, brown, and ink blue, apart from black are the trends that will stay for long. Body-skimming tailored pencil skirts in woollen fabric that can be worn with a blazer will also be popular. There are also knitted tops that can be found in polka dots, animal prints, checked and embellished styles.
Big polka dots, small checks in multi-colours, coats encrusted with gemstones, ornate embroideries, and all manner of over-the-top embellishments will make a comeback from last season. In some cases, big is the keyword. Slightly huge (not oversized) knitted scarves in different colour tones and prints will shoot up temperature, even in cold weather. The designers are also emphasizing on upsize coats like trench coats in leather or fur.
Another essential must have this winter is the turtleneck,
which is casual and fun. Fashionable tight turtlenecks that can be mixed nicely
with a skirt or dress have been in trend forever. Markets all over the globe
will have classic cable turtlenecks and items in luxurious yarns. They are
convenient during winter afternoons and as the temperature drops, can be teamed
up with jackets.
It is also imperative that anything which is added to the wardrobe must be useful for a long time. A simple cashmere sweater that can be worn with anything from jeans to skirts to leather pants or coloured pants etc. will be a nice addition to the collection. This will make the wardrobe interesting and also provide a chance to experiment a lot. Cashmere sweaters have always been a part of winter fashion, just like pullovers and scarves.
So invest in printed woollen scarf and pullovers that can be teamed up with skirts, trousers and jeans. Another part of winters is winter caps. The most common winter fabrics are flannel, wool, Persian wool, acrylic etc. These are easily available in all parts of the world in blended materials. The styles can be different, as there are earmuffs, round woollen caps, and headbands. Earmuffs are very popular, trendy, and available in host of colours.
Trends and colours are a must to look out for when shopping for winters, but fabric is as important as the trend itself. Opting for only woollen fabrics can be drab. Fortunately, this season will be full of several other rich and feminine fabrics. Flannel, blended silk or wool blends will be the fabrics to look out for. Of course, then there are other fabrics like corduroy, velvet, leather and fake furs that will be in trend.
There are also special fabrics that should be worn during workout and jogging in winters. Wind stopper garments are suited for high-output aerobic activities such as running, cycling or cross-country skiing. They are windproof, thus perfect during winters. Hooded jackets and sweat shirts will find a well-accepted market like always.
Opting for right colours is also a part of making a style statement. Winters are drab and dreary, so fashion designers look to experiment with colours especially in winter/fall designs. Going subtle or cheerful with colours is tricky, but fun. The fad of mixing colours like wearing black pullover with shocking pink scarf will be part of winter fashion 2013-14. The colours to look for this winter are grey, ivory, nude, khaki, dusty rose, peachy nude, lilac and chocolate in soft tones. In cool tones pine, peacock, grapes, purple fuchsia, syrah, powder blue, ink blue, cobalt are to look for. Warm and bright tones including yellow, crimson, tomato, red orange, sweet potato, mustard seed and hot pink can be worn during daytime and early evenings.
Geometric prints and colour-blocking dresses will find a way in market. Broad shoulder pad dresses, tailored in feminine patterns will be this season's new graphic silhouette. Contrasting dark and light paneling will dominate the style to give the wearer a curve-enhancing effect.
Accessories like clutches, belts, laces, earplugs, caps, and bags can also be purchased in different colours to match the overall tone. Winter accessories are stunning with options ranging from lustrous embellishments, bright colours and retro prints. Adornment will play a leading role during fall and winter. Gems, lace, and other embellishments can put the attire on the spotlight. The trick is to try out new looks and colours to become someone who stubbed out fashion disasters for good.
Picking right piece of outfit with appropriate accessory and perfect colour for any occasion will make you 'winter ready'.
