India is a high potential but an unstructured market
Window decor has immense scope in India. Deco Window, an India-based company selling products from curtains to trimmings, has a lot to say in terms of the window decor industry. Vaibhav Jain, CEO of Deco Window talks with Fibre2Fashion.com about the expected trends for the new year.

What are the decor trends for 2016?

Getting the indoors in, is the trend for 2016. With modern housing spaces, big gardens and balconies have become a thing of the past. One can now utilise outdoor decorative items and products to beautify the interiors of a house. We recommend using products like garden torches, cane furniture and indoor plants to fill up empty corners and spaces in an attractive manner. Another interesting trend to look out for is the high usage of metallic hues which can be incorporated as handles and window panels. Bling and glitter make a bold statement in comparison to natural tones. There are more options for curtain rods in wood, which can be chosen to give your house a style quotient. We see consumers getting attracted towards geometric patterns which feature fluid movements and make decor look more captivating, especially in the living space. These designs dominate in the upholstery and furnishing section as it blends well with the interiors. Whether designs in curtains, an intricately patterned floor or just simple walls, fluid geometry is coming in strong in 2016.

What is the concept that Deco Window has for homes?

At Deco Window, we ensure that there are solutions based on preference for traditional or contemporary styles and different colours, price points and solutions. We let our customers choose from various hardware options like curtain rods, wooden rods, tracks, automatic tracks, curtains, blind options, accessory options like tiebacks, holdbacks and customised options.

What was the inspiration behind your window curtains?

Our company's passion is in manufacturing various innovative products at good prices. We sell all over the world, except in India. We see India as a high potential market, but it is yet an unstructured market. Our products not being in our home country was the reason behind the start-up of curtains.

What do your window curtains involve?

India is a market for bright colours. Price plays a major role. People like to change, and lesser complicated solution excites customers. This is a big denomination in the market for rental homes. Our products perfectly fit the pie, enabling our customers all of the above advantages.

What are the trends in metro cities with respect to window decor?

Our customers in metro cities are well informed, conscious and aware of the trends. Customers opt for sustainable and easy-to-maintain window solutions for their home. We have a creative and dedicated team who are devoted and meticulous. The team comes up with designs that add panache to the interiors. Our team shows complete passion for what they design. We believe in providing a 360 degree solution in terms of window decor. Our designers create trends to match the expectations of our customers.

How much does e-commerce help?

Technology is booming and one has to be in tune with the times. We have three websites, Decowindow.in, Decohome.in and Decoessential.com. It has become convenient for customers to buy online as it saves them a lot of hassle especially regarding travel. Our customers, having purchased products from us online, have returned to our website for more. We not only provide complete window solutions but other home decor products as well. When it comes to e-commerce, one cannot ignore it as it makes products accessible to the masses.

Are foreign brands invading local retail spaces with window decor? How do you handle competition?

I don't see any major competition for us from other foreign brands. The Deco Window range includes classic to modern profiles. Each piece is engineered for durability, functionality and aesthetics. Together with state-of-the-art hardware and impeccable customisation and automation solutions, we give endless possibilities to complete your decor needs.
