Jiangsu Yingyang Nonwoven Machinery Co. Ltd. is a nonwoven machinery manufacturer located in Changshu City near Shanghai, China. Since it was founded in 1992, the company has grown to become the largest of its type in China and probably the largest in the world. The company has supplied its machinery to more than 70 countries. In an interview with Fibre2Fashion, Yingyang Nonwovens’ Chairman Fan Liyuan discusses the Chinese and the global markets.
What is the size of the nonwoven machinery market in China? At what rate is it growing?
In China, the nonwoven machinery market occupies about 12-15 per cent of the whole textile machinery industry. Pre-COVID, it was growing at an average annual rate of 5 per cent.
Which countries are the major producers of nonwoven machinery?
European countries and Asian countries are the major producers of nonwoven machinery.
Which countries are the major importers of nonwoven machinery?
South America, Russia, Turkey, Japan, Korea, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc are the major importers of nonwoven machinery.
Which types of machinery are supplied by Jiangsu Yingyang Nonwoven Machinery Co. Ltd.?
We manufacture all kinds of nonwoven machines including needle punching production line, thermal bonded wadding production line, spunbond and spun-melt production lines, spunlace production line, etc.
Which is the biggest market for your company? What share of your production is sold to the domestic market in China?
Our biggest market is the Middle East and South & East Asia. The share of our production sold to the domestic market in China is 55 per cent.
How do you foresee the future of nonwoven machinery industry? Why?
Due to several factors like excessive production capacity, the international political situation and war, the nonwoven machinery industry is currently in the tank, but there will be recovery in the coming years.
What are the various applications of nonwovens manufactured using Yingyang machinery?
The final products application involves many fields, for example: geotextile for road construction as well as landfill; automotive interiors from carpet to luggage trays and trunk liners; home textiles like mattress, cushion, quilting, garment lining, and kitchen cleaning; hygienic material like mask, wet tissue, and baby diapers; agriculture textiles, and for packaging and carry bag.
How much investment would be needed for setting up a completely new nonwoven production facility?
Taking the project for automotive interior as instance, it requires around 150 million RMB ($21 million) to have complete facilities, including workshop rent, machines, assistant facilities, worker cost and so on.
Yingyang has been a regular participant at the ITMA Asia + CITME shows. How has been the response in the previous editions?
As an international exhibition, the ITMA Asia + CITME show attracts exhibitors and visitors from all over the world. In the previous editions, we met new customers as well as some regular customers, and discussed about new projects with them. Generally, it is one good platform to expand the market.
What new products is Yingyang going to showcase in ITMA Asia + CITME 2022 (now postponed to November 2023)?
We are going to showcase the nonwoven products made from our machines, such as automotive interior, filtration fabric, functional composite products, etc.
