Textil Santanderina is a leading European textile industry group with a complete, traceable, vertical production system. The company has 11 high-capacity production plants and manufactures textile solutions for all industries. Director Ramon Rios Quintana speaks about the demand for sustainable yarns and fabrics.

What is the size of the market for cotton and blended yarns? At what rate is it growing?

It has been varying, depending on fashion and the demand, as viscose, tencel and some other more floppy fibres have been taking part of the market share. But I would say it is stable for two years now as basics are still going on with cotton compound.

What is the annual production of yarns and fabrics at Textil Santanderina?

We export about 30 million metres per year.  We export worldwide. What is the annual production of yarns and fabrics at Textil Santanderina?

From where do you source raw materials like cotton, polyester and cellulose for fabrics?

We source cotton from the local market, from wholesaling, from traceable markets like the US, where the base of cotton respects our environmental policy and social responsibility.

Which major brands and retailers are your clients? Which are your major markets?

Our main brands are retailers with presence all over the world-from Inditex Group, H&M, Gap, JC Penny, Walmart, Target and high-end brands, in Germany, Italy, and Scandinavia.

It is increasing. In the last two years, we have seen quite a big change in the mentality of e-buyers, where tracing the root of the yarns and fabric has become a must. Pronto Moda, quick fast fashion to the market, but sustainable, are the major trends. (HO)
