What are the latest activewear trends?

Athleisure is the current buzzword in fashion

On International Yoga Day, Fibre2Fashion spoke to head honchos of Indian activewear brands to find about the latest trends in fabrics, colours and styles in athleisure.

Activewear is no longer limited to the gym and yoga rooms, as people are comfortable wearing those for regular occasions like a quick catch-up with friends or late-night movies, making those perfect for millennials as well as baby boomers. Novelties like mesh leggings, yoga pants, joggers and track pants are high in demand. Trendy, easy on the skin and comfortable to wear, these bottomwear look breezy when teamed up with a tank top or sweatshirt, increasing the cool quotient. Apart from bottomwear, sports shoe is also trending as an increasing number of people are shifting to comfortable, yet trendy footwear, making a shift from conventional leather.

Athleisure is the current buzzword in fashion, and rules the roost in every fashion week. Theoretically, it is the trend that involves comfortable clothing designed and worn for casual and athletic activities, but this trend has taken the world by storm.

The current activewear trends are: Bike shorts—this style has been revived from the 80's and is once again back in trend; Moss green—this has replaced the predominant black and has been liked by both male and female; Chunky sneakers—these not only make people look stylish but also their weight helps in slimming down the legs; and Florals—think twice, if you feel that floral can't be used in activewear/sportswear.

We are looking at using recycled polyester and other natural fabrics like bamboo and hemp in the future too. Our garments are made using certified organic cotton with lycra. By using these we want to give our customers an all-natural breathable option to choose from.
