Job Description

Policy : Create material sourcing & logistics policies for the group and ensure alignment to the policies in the group companies and divisions.
Procurement Management - long term planning and strategy to meet business / projects requirements:
Study global industry trends in procurement, logistics and shipping (competitive intelligence, industry forecasts, buying trends) for cotton, yarn, coal, machinery etc
Understand business requirements and review/approve annual /weekly/ monthly sourcing plan based on annual business and production plans
Evaluate feasibility of alternatives (outsourcing/contracting etc.) to ensure timely delivery and cost optimization
Plan for the global procurement of raw materials (yarn, cotton, machinery, coal etc.) and direct variables, logistics and shipping costs within budget
Develop plans to improve control of inventory and on time delivery to the customer
Provide direction to the EXIM function to get the maximum rebate and duty entitlement (if applicable)
Drive initiatives to reduce cost
Study possibilities of frame contracts and the benefits it will deliver
Build partnerships with preferred vendors (RM suppliers, logistic vendors and shipping partners) through quantity commitments
Liaise with global / local vendors to secure competitive bids and availability
Drive specific initiatives aimed at cost reduction in the supply chain. E.g. supporting wider business improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing
Project Procurement
Ensure on time, within quality and cost procurement for projects
Study project risk assessment and mitigation tools from the procurement perspective
Settlement of vendor claims and dispute resolution
Final signing/issuance/review and validation of tender/ contract document
Conducting pre-bid technical meetings with vendors, contractors, consultants & owner to resolve technical issues so as to ensure that bids from all the competitors are at par with each other for comparison
Monitor the cash flow by collecting & consolidating cash flows of individual contractors/consultants and update the cash flow requirements on regular basis
Managing Service Delivery (procurement, shipping, logistics, EXIM)
Set standards and goals for service delivery to internal customers (businesses, projects) within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Set goals and standards for the sub functions (RM, Non RM, Agro, Logistics)
Monitor and review performance of sub functions, recommends corrective actions, if required
Review and act upon feedback given by internal/external customers
Logistics:
Contracting for Logistics operations, evaluate performance of logistics vendors and award giving.
Responsible for end to end logistics operation. Manage PO working, Booking, Drayage, Documents, Storage, Clearance, Shipment etc
Head, TOC Distribution Distribution based on the principle of Theory of Constraint, Inventory calculation, Replenishment & Dynamic Buffer Management
Relationship Building with Vendors (Transporter, CHA, Freight Forwarder, CONCOR etc)
Freight negotiations for S/Line, Transporters, CHA and design cargo movement model maximizing savings
Initiatives for Cost minimization / reduction in total logistics solution
Formulate & monitor business plan with the top management. Strategic decisions based on customers logistics cost & other selling expenses
IPM for Ex India OTIF. Implementation & adherence to customers logistics SOP to avoid penalties & claims
Executive Committee: Participate in Executive Committee meetings and ensure resolution of all outstanding issues

Eligibility Criteria

• CA/ MBA in Operations management with strong techno-commercial acumen, solid understanding of the procurement patterns in cotton, yarn, machineries, global commodities, logistics and EXIM procedures.
  15+ years of industry experience, with at least 5 years being the Head of procurement & logistics department.
  Managing a global supply chain (or a part of it) in the textile industry
  Prior exposure to big ticket global shipping and logistics negotiations would be preferable.
