Crystal International, a global leader in the apparel manufacturing industry like denim, intimate wear, sportswear, and outdoor clothing, has released its ninth annual sustainability report. In the report, the company describes its sustainable management approach and performance in sustainability in accordance with their sustainability framework of 2007.

The company’s sustainability vision directly or indirectly contributes to most of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2017, they identified three key goals, which were decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), and quality education (SDG 4) that align with the focus areas of its sustainability vision that includes quality, environmentally friendly operations, and engaged employees, according to Crystal International.

Crystal International offers products that are safe and of quality, which is the most important requirement of its customers. As such, Crystal has set its mission that emphasises the importance of quality and customer delight and delivering bottom line results. They have also set ‘Live Quality’ as one of the corporate values to support the Group’s mission and developed a corporate master policy for quality management to make known their quality commitment to the whole Group.

The company has set several strategic goals for 2018. Since Crystal International has acquired new factories, they are conducting quality management system mapping to ensure standardisation in all our factories. Also, they will be performing the required quality enhancement projects in designated factories and new factories.

Crystal International is committed to implementing robust environmental management and practices, making continuous improvements through self-control, innovation and using the most appropriate technology. These commitments allow it to achieve cost effectiveness while preserving the environment for future generations.

The success of Crystal International’s sustainability programme is completely dependent on its high-calibre people. To ensure that its staff are engaged, loyal, and committed to carrying out its mission, they have made Maslow’s hierarchy of needs the backbone of its employee care programme. Using this hierarchy enables the company to take a systematic approach to understanding the employees’ different needs when implementing targeted employee care initiatives.

“Sustainability is an integral part of our business and we are constantly working together to ensure that we are applying the best practices in our work, in our people and making a positive environmental and social contribution while balancing the needs of our stakeholders,” Andrew Lo, the CEO of the company said.
