Intertek introduces service to screen restricted matter

Intertek, a leading solution provider for testing, inspection and certification services in the global textile industry, has introduced the Chemical Smart Screening service to check the use of restricted and hazardous substances in the textile, apparel and footwear chemicals and auxiliaries, according to a press statement released by the company.

The Chemical Smart Screening service enables manufacturers to identify and prevent the use of restricted substances at the very beginning of the manufacturing process, which ultimately benefits retailers by reducing their expenditure, turn-around time and re-handling.

A single sample can screen up to 400 harmful substances in raw materials, restricted under the regulations of Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), California's Proposition 65, Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), etc.

This service was developed to provide a solution to the challenges our customers face as they balance the need for timely production with chemical management strategies.”
