Tommaso Bruso is new COO of Benetton Group

The board of directors at Benetton Group has appointed Tommaso Bruso as the new chief operating officer (COO). Bruso will bring his experience in the international fashion industry to Benetton Group's operations, along with a strong knowledge of Italian entrepreneurship. The board has also granted the chairman, Francesco Gori, power over core staff matters.

Bruso started his career at Benetton Group and worked in Italy as well as the US. He currently holds the position of CEO for North America at Fedon, Furla and Diesel.

Benetton Group has also announced that the board of directors has accepted the resignation of chief executive officer Marco Airoldi, effective from the annual Shareholders' meeting on May 16, 2017. The meeting will also be called upon to confirm the appointment of James McArthur, who has already been co-opted onto the board as non-executive director.

The board of directors expressed its thanks to Airoldi, who contributed to the definition and subsequent launch of the company refocus and relaunch plan, which targets a selection of markets, stores and the Benetton Group brands. He worked at Benetton since 2013, first as a consultant then as CEO and managing director. (KD)
