A significant progress has been achieved in Bangladesh's readymade garment (RMG) sector's capacity building over the last two-and-half years but more tasks remain to be done, US ambassador in Dhaka, Marcia Bernicat, has said, according to Bangladeshi media reports.

“Specially, there has been much progress in terms of workers' safety, but more have to be done,” Bernicat said while speaking at an event in Signboard area of Gazipur.

The US ambassador said the international community, including her country, are observing that workers rights are being respected in the country and they are allowed to assemble together.

Stating that “Change is never an easy job,” she said the efforts will be successful when workers and factory owners work jointly.

More than 110 students were given stipend at the function organised by East West Industrial Park. (RKS)
