The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) under the Union ministry of textiles will set up three more apparel training and design centres in the state of Orissa as the apparel industry requires more and more skilled manpower, these days.

These centres would be established, at Sambalpur, Baripada and Cuttack this year under the Skill Development Project (SDP), each at an investment of Rs 7 million, of which Rs 4 million would be contributed by the government of Orissa, while rest would be borne by the Council.

At present, AEPC is operating a training centre at Bhubaneswar and two satellite centres at Berhampur and Rourkela. These centres offer various courses such as three-month course, short-term certificate and two-year diploma courses in fashion design, garment technology and apparel information technology.
