Alma Mater Store raises $200000 from Wazir Advisors' Sahni

Indian customised apparel brand Alma Mater Store has received a commitment for funding of $200,000 from Harminder Sahni, managing director of Wazir Advisors. Led by Sachin Sahni, the brand is a pioneer in mass and online customisation in India. Angel investor Sahni has invested in numerous start-ups, including Mcaffeine, Inkfruit, Nivaata and YFM Uniforms.

The brand wants to scale its operations and expand its footprints, and therefore, the funds will be invested in expansion and new technology, a news agency quoted chief executive officer Sahni as saying.

Alma Mater Store has worked with more than 2,500 schools and colleges in nearly 190 cities having customised over 1 million tees and hoodies. Recently, the brand collaborated with 91 Springboard, a few startups and freelancers. The brand has also worked for Google, Amazon, Infosys, the Indian Institutes of Management, the Indian Institutes of Technology and Microsoft.

India is one of the fastest growing markets for the customized merchandise and is growing at the rate of 15 per cent annually. It is currently dominated by local unorganized players. (DS)
