Amazon recently allowed Indian merchants, who are part of its global selling programme, to sell products on its Australian marketplace. With this initiative by the US retail giant, the total number of international Amazon marketplaces where Indian sellers can sell became 11. These include Canada, Japan, France, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Sixty Indian sellers had signed up for selling in Australia as part of a pilot last month, Amazon vice president and head of international seller services Eric L Broussard told a news agency.

Over 32,000 sellers in India are part of Amazon's global selling programme. These sellers have witnessed a sales growth of over 200 per cent last year, according to the company.

Amazon saw a growth of 224 per cent in the number of Indian sellers selling globally and a 500 per cent rise in number of Indian products on Amazon's international marketplaces. (DS)
