Amazon launches 'fulfilment' service in Australia

US e-tailing giant Amazon, which launched its operations in Australia in December last year, recently rolled out its ‘fulfilment’ service in the country through which businesses registered on its online marketplace can get their products selected, packaged and shipped. Analysts feel Amazon's slow rollout in the country is part of its strategy.
It is speculated that price and data collections to know the retailers and consumers well could be a reason behind the soft launch, according to media reports in Australia.
Amazon also confirmed its Prime subscription service will be launched in the country in mid-2018. Prime subscriptions in the United States include free delivery and access to its music and video streaming platforms. (DS)
