Amazon India has opened its seventh Maharashtra located Indian Fulfilment Centre (FC), spread over close to 230,000 square feet with more than 1 million cubic feet of storage space in Bhiwandi near Mumbai.

“With this FC, Maharashtra emerges as the state with the largest fulfilment and storage capacity for Amazon in India,” a press release from Amazon India stated.

Bhushan Gagrani, CEO at Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, said, “We are very proud that Amazon has chosen to continually expand its presence in Maharashtra.”

“We are very happy to see how the FCs have enabled thousands of small and medium businesses selling products such as handlooms and handicraft to service customer across the country and the globe,” he added.

“It will also provide a fillip to the local economy by enabling the growth of ancillary businesses such as packaging, transportation, logistics, and hospitality across the state,” Gagrani also stated.

“Maharashtra has emerged as the state where we have the largest footprint for our fulfilment services,” Akhil Saxena, director operations at Amazon India too said.

”It stands testament to our commitment in making deep investments in the state and in turn creating opportunities for employment, growth and revenue generation for the government,” he informed.

“We know Amazon fulfilment centres can play a significant catalytic role in the development of an inclusive e-commerce economy with benefits accruing across the ecosystem,” Saxena observed.

Amazon has over 21 FCs operational across 10 states in India covering a total of over 2 million-square-feet of space with a storage capacity of over 5 million cubic feet.

Amazon India offers the most comprehensive suite of services to sellers that meet their requirements at every stage of their business lifecycle.

Over 100,000 sellers have already used several of these services like Self Service Registration (SSR) that provides sellers an accelerated and friction-free path to sell on Amazon and reach nationwide markets.

To facilitate seamless management for sellers, Amazon.in also has the Amazon Seller App that enables direct buyer-seller communication, order notification, order details, shipment confirmation and order fulfillment notifications.

In line with its endeavor to transform the way India sells, Amazon has also launched its Global Selling Program in India, opening doors for Indian businesses to export to customers of worldwide ecommerce markets.

Amazon is also extending two of its pioneering products, Selling on Amazon (SOA) and Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) to businesses from across India to go global and showcase their “Made in India” creations to global customers. (AR)
