Chinese clothing imports maintain upward trend

China's apparel imports have maintained an overall upward trend in recent years. China's clothing imports totally increased by 46.6 percent in the period between 2006 and 2010.

Of which, wool and leather clothing achieved the fastest growth by growing nearly three times in the past five years.

Prices of major import textile and apparel commodities too have hiked in the period between 2006 and 2010.

Import price of yarn and fabric rose by 21.3 percent and 8.2 percent, respectively. Among yarns, import prices of cotton and chemical fiber yarn fetched the fastest growth.

Among fabrics, prices of silk and wool fabrics grew the fastest. Import price of knitted and woven apparel rose 22 percent.
