Esprit partners UN Women NC Australia for Women's Day

Fashion brand Esprit has teamed up with UN Women National Committee (NC) Australia for the fifth time to launch a signature scarf marking International Women's Day to support the empowerment of women and girls across the globe. All the proceeds from the sale of the scarves will go to UN Women programmes for creating brighter futures for women.

The company also said that 20 per cent from all instore and online sales on March 4-5 will go to support UN Women.

"It is an honour for Esprit ANZ to work so closely again with UN Women NC Australia and support this year's theme. We are deeply committed to building a better awareness amongst our employees, consumers and the broader market of the important work that the UN Women's committee delivers. We hope that our contribution and message enables women to be empowered through the UN Women's projects across the globe," said Stephen Newnham, head of retail Esprit Australia & New Zealand.

"We are thrilled to have the wonderful support of Esprit for the 5th year running. The scarf is more than just a fashion statement, it is also a symbol of our passion for women's empowerment and gender equality," said Janelle Weissman, executive director of UN Women NC Australia.

The signature print scarf has been designed to support women across the globe this International Women's Day. Soft and lightweight, this accessory is perfect for trans-seasonal layering. Esprit stores are also selling International Women's Day purple ribbons on the occasion.

This year's theme for International Women's Day is 'empower a woman, empower a nation'. We know that when you empower a woman, you unlock opportunities not just for one woman, but for her children, for her family, whole communities and entire nations. Purchasing a signature scarf is a tangible way to show support for women's empowerment around the world, now and into the future, said the company's press release. (KD)
