The Indian ministry of textiles is expecting the finance ministry to clear a Rs 170-crore special package for the knitwear sector as soon as possible to create more jobs and boost declining exports. Talks between the two ministries in this regard are reportedly stuck at present on the issue of the monetary resources needed for the package.
The package will be announced as soon as the finance ministry gives its go-ahead, as no Cabinet approval is needed for the proposal as its amount is less than Rs 200 crore, a top textile ministry official told a news agency recently.The Indian ministry of textiles is expecting the finance ministry to clear a Rs 170-crore special package for the knitwear sector as soon as possible to create more jobs and boost declining exports.
