M&S to expand Indian retail footprint

UK-based big-time apparel retailer; Marks & Spencer (M&S) plans to open 10 new outlets in India.

M&S operates and manages 703 outlets in UK and 361 in other countries.

M&S has collaborated with Reliance Retail, another Indian major retailer for its Indian operations.

Currently the joint venture operates 19 stores and with the addition of these new stores, the store count would leap to 29.

“We have accelerated the pace of growth in the Indian market, in working with our partner Reliance Retail", CEO of M&S – Marc Bolland said.

“Over 50 percent of our products are sourced from the region, which provides a better tailored proposition for Indian customers”, he added.
