Cambodia's garment & textile exports rise sharply

A significant rise of nearly 40 percent year-on-year has been witnessed in garment and textile exports from the Kingdom of Cambodia during the first 11 months of the current year.
Garment and textile exports from the country were worth US$ 3.94 billion during January-November period, compared to exports of US$ 2.82 billion recorded during the corresponding period of 2010, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce.
During the same period, garment and textile imports grew by 9 percent year-on-year to US$ 2.36 billion.
Garments and textiles constituted a major item in Cambodia's total foreign trade.
Cambodia's total exports were worth US$ 4.5 billion during the period under review, up 42.8 percent compared to exports of US$ 3.15 billion during the corresponding period last year. The country's imports were valued at US$ 5.97 billion, showing a rise of 40 percent y-o-y from US$ 4.27 billion dollars in the same period in 2010.
Cambodia's main trade partners are China, Canada, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, EU and the US.
