Taiwanese garment producers are considering to promote their brands in China as they see great potential for branded fashion apparel in Chinese market.

Taiwan's leading garment producer, Tainan Enterprises Co. was the first to make a move in this direction. The firm, which is present in China for almost 20 years now, successfully launched its own “Tony Wear” fashion label in China in recent years.

In October 2011, Everest Textile Co., a subsidiary of Far Eastern Textile, unveiled its fashion label EverTek in China. Everest President CL Yeh said the brand soon gained popularity in China and generated NT$ 5 million (US$ 166,667) in revenues during November 2011. He expects the brand's revenues in China to touch NT$ 300 million (US$ 10 million) this year.

Some other garment and textile producers from Taiwan like Makalot Industrial Co. and Nan-Woei Industrial Co. are also planning to launch their own brands in China.

Makalot is scheduled to launch its branded apparel line in China this year, which it proposes to first launch online. Makalot Chairman LP Chou said over the next few years, China's business climate is likely to be better than that of the EU and the US, which are facing protracted credit crisis that is affecting their economic performance.

Nan-Woei already operates a plant in eastern China's Jiangsu Province's Yancheng and it primarily engages in production of women's coats and sportswear. The plant has a monthly production capacity of 60,000 dozen pieces and the entire output of the plant is exported. Considering the growing demand for branded items in China, the firm plans to launch its own branded fashion and upholstery labels in 2014.
