Motherhood Maternity's new line with a look of 50s & 70s

Motherhood Maternity's Spring 2012 Collection gives a nod to fashions of the '50s and '70s with an updated take on the best of both eras.

Early in the season, bold pops of color serve as the first flush of Spring with color blocking and engineered stripes playing a key role after the pales and neutrals of Winter.

As the season progresses, fluidity and structure blend for maternity fashions that are comfortable yet on trend. Hand-drawn florals in watercolor hues combine with vintage lace and the unexpected touch of macrame in this season's blouses.

Sweaters are open stitched and cardigans serve as the key layering piece for the season. Paired back to '50s style dresses and cigarette pants, the look is classic eclectic.

New this Spring is a hint of Asian inspiration, with kimono sleeves and graphic prints. Layering remains important, with belts reigning in the volume of soft, draped knits. Ruching continues to accentuate the pregnant silhouette in both dresses and tees. Glam peasant tops and flared denim play up the '70s Bohemian feel.

Print and color play key roles this season, with vibrant shades of saturated, spiced cinnamon and rich raspberry contrasting earthy blue, muted green, and light peach. Blurry stripes, color blocking, and ombre dyeing blend these colorways in seamless harmony.
