One Sports to diversify; unveil apparel range by Aug

One Sports, an India-based manufacturer of sports accessories, has announced that it would launch its new apparel collection by August this year, and it intends to open exclusive outlets to sell its products.
Though the new apparel collection would be launched by August, the firm would start promoting it from April. Besides casual lifestyle apparels, the new collection would include shoes, bags, backpacks and wrist bands.
To launch its outlets, the company is also considering franchise model, but this is expected to take at least two to three years to materialize.
Last month, the firm launched its patented Thwack badminton rackets, together with mixed martial arts and boxing accessories, including full-size training equipment – Thwack Humanoid.
The Mumbai-based firm entered Singapore last year, and it has established links with distributors in nine European countries as well as in China and Malaysia.
In Europe, the company has its presence in Luxembourg, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, Slovakia, France, Germany, Belgium and the Czech Republic and it looks forward to spread its presence in 30 more countries by close of the current year.
One Sports is very much optimistic regarding its global strategy and projects its earnings from sports equipments and services segment would grow to Rs. 2.5-3.0 billion by 2014.
The firm would invest Rs. 700 million to fund its overall expansion plans and has already invested around Rs. 150 million by now.
The company has signed top Czech badminton player Petr Koukal, who is slated to participate in next London Olympics, as its brand ambassador.
Indian sportswear market, which is worth Rs. 30 billion at present, is growing at an annual rate of 20 percent.
