Around 30 percent of over ten thousand batches of imported garments and accessories, on which sampling inspection was conducted, failed to meet the quality and other norms, as per the data from Shanghai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.
More than 1,100 batches failed to meet import parameters such as safety, health and environment protection.
Around 700 batches of imported clothing were found to be of substandard and had problems related to failure of colour fastness, excess PH value, more formaldehyde and other issues.
Over 400 batches of imported accessories, too, failed to meet the Shanghai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau standards.
