Clothing items now covered under traveller's rebate, ZIMRA

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) advises its valued clients that in terms of Statutory Instrument 22A of 2012, the following items can now be cleared under the traveller's rebate with effect from 23 February 2012:
•clothing (whether new or second-hand) and
•shoes
The traveller's rebate is a duty-free allowance of US$300 which is granted once per calendar month subject to prescribed conditions which include that they shall not be for commercial purposes and that the goods are properly declared.
Statutory Instrument 22A of 2012 was published in the Extra-Ordinary Government Gazette of 23 February 2012.
The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, which derives its mandate from the Revenue Authority Act [Chapter 23:11] and other subsidiary legislation, is responsible for assessing, collecting and accounting for revenue on behalf of the State through the Ministry of Finance.
