Ed Gribbin, President Alvanon Inc has been invited to speak at the opening Product Development Technologies session of Texprocess Americas Symposium 2012, on Tuesday 24th April at 9.30am to 11.30am. His presentation will reveal how the latest 3D avatar technology, based on the shape of “real” US consumers, is being integrated into the product development process to create and accelerate the development of better fitting fashion.

He will explain how virtual men's, women's and children's avatars can be utilized at every stage of the development process from concept sketching and pattern design through to sampling and 3D try-on.

In addition to the symposium, Alvanon will be exhibiting its latest range of fashion sizing and fit tools at the Texprocess tradeshow, Tuesday 24th to Thursday 26th April. It will showcase its recently launched “US Missy Standard” avatars and AlvaForm technical fit mannequins based on the dominant body shape of “real” US women and incorporated by the ASTM's subcommittee D13.55 for Body Measurement and Apparel Standards into the ASTM International Standard D5585. Alvanon analyzed thousands of 3D body scans of American women aged between 25 and 45 years and identified two dominant shape types, “straight” and “curvy”.

Alvanon's team of morphological experts used the data to generate the computer based avatars and physical technical fit forms to accurately and realistically represent the dominant body shapes across the full range of US sizes from 2 to 14. The comprehensive Alvanon product range can be seen at BOOTH 3453.

Ed Gribbin has worked in the international apparel industry for over 30 years. He joined Alvanon Inc. in 2006 to head its global strategic consultancy division and was appointed president of Alvanon Inc., in January 2011. At Alvanon he has played an outstanding role in developing global fit strategies, based on the 3D body shape data analysis of over 300,000 consumers.
