Bonobos, a menswear company that manufactures and markets a range of products including pants, shorts, and T-shirts, has introduced a special line of environmentally sustainable jeans to celebrate Earth Day 2012.
The new jeans called “Bottle Rockets” are made completely from recycled materials, including recycled cotton, polyester and plastic beer bottles.
Each pair of jeans, available in natural canvas and dark indigo shades, uses around 3-5 recycled beer bottles.
The fabric for the denims is sourced in North Carolina, designing is done in New York and is finally stitched in Los Angeles, thus making it a totally US-made product.
Actually, the denim fabric used in making of Bottle Rockets features yarn from a company called EarthSpun, which uses colours of the recycled plastic bottles – blue, green and brown – instead of dyes or chemicals, to give colour to their yarn.
Bonobos clothing is sold directly to consumers through the company's website, their New York showroom, and at Nordstrom stores.
