Nike & US Olympic Committee launch London Olympic outfits

Inspired by the first Nike-designed warm-ups for Brazil’s national soccer team, the Nike MKII Jacket features a lean silhouette and satin finish.

A crafted stand-up collar gives the jacket an elegant, formal feel while reflective piping on the sleeve calls attention to the American flag badge on the left arm. Inspired by the placement on space suits, the flag patch is a proper badge of honor for a different, but no less glorious journey.

The first ever basketball shoe to feature Nike Air-Sole units for cushioning, the Nike AF1 was originally released in 1982. Thirty years after its birth, the footwear icon is modernized with a reflective upper to celebrate the medal stand look. An inscription on the left and right foot insoles reads “land of the free” and “home of the brave,” respectively.

U.S. medalists from the following sports will wear this look:

  • U.S. Olympic Team: basketball, field hockey, soccer, volleyball (indoor), water polo
  • U.S. Paralympic Team: sitting volleyball, soccer, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby

3)     Nike Varsity Bomber Classic, Nike Hawthorne Dri-FIT Stretch 5 Pocket Jean, Nike Blazer Mid LR:

The Nike Varsity Bomber Classic is a homage to a classic American style piece — the varsity letterman’s jacket. A brushed cotton canvas construction provides a durable look while Nike Dri-FIT incorporated with the denim adds breathability and comfort. Collegiate embroidery details include a satin-stitched “Land of the free, home of the brave” script on the placket and “United States of America” on the back.

The Nike Blazer Mid LR comes in black suede with a reflective swoosh, natural gum rubber outsole and tongue-tag authenticator. Nike’s Lunarlon cushioning innovation is incorporated in the insole for hidden impact-absorption while maintaining a clean aesthetic.

U.S. medalists from the following sports will wear this look:

  • U.S. Olympic Team: archery, boxing, cycling (BMX and mountain), equestrian, fencing, shooting, wrestling
  • U.S. Paralympic Team: archery, equestrian, shooting

Founded in 1894 and headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO., the U.S. Olympic Committee serves as both the National Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee for the United States. As such, the USOC is responsible for the training, entering and funding of U.S. teams for the Olympic, Paralympic, Youth Olympic, Pan American and Parapan American Games, while serving as a steward of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements throughout the country.
