Australian retail body ARA supports NSW Small Biz Connect

Peak retail industry body the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) announced its support of and involvement with Small Biz Connect, a program launched earlier this week by the NSW Small Business Commissioner and subsidised by the NSW Government.

ARA Executive Director Russell Zimmerman said the program would go towards helping business owners in NSW achieve success through networking and mentoring, and showed the commitment of the NSW Government to the prosperity of small businesses across NSW.

“80 percent of the ARA’s membership fits the description of a small business, so we are delighted by an initiative which will support smaller retailers in the interests of growth, prosperity and relevance to their customers.

“Small retailers are currently grappling with pressures around the costs of operating a business as well as innovating towards modern consumer demand to reach new and existing customers in relevant ways, so it means a lot for these retailers to know they have support and resources.

“As the direct line between government and the retail industry, the ARA, together with ARA Retail Institute is delighted to be both playing a key role with the program and working closely with the Small Business Commissioner moving forward.

“The ARA also supports the fact that the program will be accessible from all regions of NSW and providers have been selected based on their strong regional networks,” Zimmerman said.

Since 1903 the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) has been the peak industry body representing Australia’s $240 billion retail sector which employs over 1.2 million people. The ARA ensures retail success by informing, protecting, advocating, educating and saving money for its 5000 independent and national retail members throughout Australia.
