John Lewis announces 'Perfect Party Dress' contest winner

Earlier this year, ITV1's flagship daytime show This Morning launched a competition to find the 'Perfect Party Dress' in collaboration with John Lewis. Thousands of budding designers from across the country submitted entries – in the hope of having their design produced and stocked in John Lewis in time for the Christmas party season.

The winning design, created by Stephen Arthur, a 21 year old ICT teacher from Birmingham, is a stunning floor-length ball gown crafted from luxurious red chiffon and taffeta. The dress is finished with crossover detail at the back, a fitted bodice and a matching chiffon shoulder train for old-school Hollywood glamour.

Jo Hooper, Head of Buying for Fashion says, "This is a great opportunity to harness some of the UK's enthusiasm for fashion design and discover some amazing untapped talent. I am thoroughly impressed with Stephen’s winning design and have no doubt that the dress will be a great success this festive season."

Winner, Stephen Arthur, says, “It is an honour to have been selected to design a party dress for John Lewis. My winning design is inspired by Hollywood Glamour and Christmasfestivity. I am overwhelmed by the response and can’t wait to see it in store at John Lewis.”

Stephen Arthur’s ‘Perfect Party Dress’ will be sold in John Lewis Oxford Street, Solihull and online very soon.
