Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, the managing director of the garment making unit, was among those who were killed, according to media reports.

The death toll was less as the fire broke out around 11 p.m., while the garment unit had closed for the day at 7 p.m. However, Mr. Rahman was in a meeting with few others on the ninth floor of the eleven-storey building.
