The Central Asian Republic of Kyrgyzstan has sought increased cooperation with Vietnam in the field of garments and textiles.

At a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Ha Noi, visiting Krygyz Foreign Minister Abdyldaey Erlan Bekeshovich said his country wishes to accelerate collaboration with Vietnam in the light industry, particularly in garments and textiles.

Mr. Bekeshovich said Kyrgyzstan is moving to join the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, and it would be an opportunity for the two sides to strengthen ties in economics, trade and investment.

On his part, Mr. Dung suggested that Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan early sign economic agreements to create a legal foundation for speeding up their trade-investment relations.

Mr. Dung said the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan is developing, and the Foreign Minister’s visit would contribute to further stepping up their bilateral ties.

During the four-day visit of the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister to Vietnam, both the countries agreed to increase all-level delegation exchanges.

During their stay in Vietnam, the Kyrgyz delegation accompanying the Minister visited a large garment factory, specialized in stitching export-oriented men’s and women’s clothing.
